Criminal record check in Saskatoon, online
Saskatoon employers and landlords regularly ask for a criminal record check before you start a job or sign a lease. With MyCRC, the criminal record check happens online: a name-based search of the RCMP national database using your name and date of birth, identity verified with your phone, consent signed on screen. Your report arrives as a PDF in your account, whether you’re in Stonebridge, Nutana, Lawson Heights or out in Warman.
Getting a check from the Saskatoon Police Service
The Saskatoon Police Service checks current residents of the city only, and asks for proof of your Saskatoon address, such as a driver’s licence, bank statement or utility bill. It recommends applying online for most people, to save time and avoid lineups; online applications carry a $9.95 third-party processing fee.
You can also apply in person at 76 25th Street East, Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with no appointment needed, and you can join the lineup remotely before you arrive. Bring two pieces of government-issued ID with the same last name, one of them with your photo; photocopies and pictures of ID aren’t accepted. A criminal record check without a vulnerable sector check costs $45 in person. Volunteers can have the fee waived with a signed letter on the organization’s letterhead, dated within the last three months, that describes their duties.
If you live outside the city
Rural routes around Saskatoon are policed by the RCMP, not the city: the Saskatoon Police Service sends people on rural routes to the Warman, Delisle, Martensville or Saskatoon RCMP detachments, depending on the route.
Doing it online with MyCRC
MyCRC is one price, $68.23 tax included, with no lineup and no counter hours to work around. Reports can be ready in as little as 15 minutes and take about 4 hours on average. It’s a name-based check of criminal convictions; if the organization asking needs a vulnerable sector check or fingerprints, apply through the police instead.
Who asks for one in Saskatoon
Mining and potash companies, construction and trades, agriculture and research employers, retail and hospitality businesses, and landlords all ask for checks. If yours is for a Government of Saskatchewan contract that needs access to government buildings, the province requires its own chosen vendor and won’t take a check from an online provider; see the Saskatchewan page.
