Criminal record check in Windsor, online
Windsor runs on auto plants, cross-border logistics, the casino and the university, and nearly all of them want a criminal record check before a new hire’s first shift. You can handle that part yourself, online, with MyCRC: a name-based criminal record check that searches your name and date of birth against the RCMP’s national database, with your identity confirmed by an ID photo and a selfie. The finished report lands in your account as a PDF in as little as 15 minutes, from Walkerville, South Windsor, Tecumseh or LaSalle alike.
Record checks from the Windsor Police Service
The Windsor Police Service takes record check requests online 24 hours a day, seven days a week, paid by Visa or Mastercard, or in person during business hours with two approved pieces of ID, paying by cash, debit or card. Online results come as a secure electronic download, and you have 31 days to download your completed check. In-person requests, and any check that contains criminal record information, are mailed to your home as an original embossed hard copy.
What it costs and how long it takes
Under the service’s 2026 fee schedule, a police criminal record check costs $66.24, HST exempt. Volunteers get a criminal record check or a criminal record and judicial matters check at no cost, and a volunteer vulnerable sector check is $36.24. Non-criminal fingerprinting is $45.
Windsor says standard processing currently takes one to two weeks, depending on how you receive the result. For $50 more, expedited service flags your request for assignment the next business day, and those usually finish within one to three business days, though the service doesn’t promise a date. Some restrictions apply to expediting if you have lived outside Windsor Police’s area in the past five years.
Ontario’s three levels
Windsor offers Ontario’s three levels: a criminal record check, a criminal record and judicial matters check, and a vulnerable sector check. If a posting just asks for a “police check”, ask which level it wants.
Skip the expedite fee
Paying $66.24 and another $50 to move up the queue adds up to more than a hundred dollars. MyCRC’s name-based check is $68.23 with tax included, with no $50 expedite charge on top, whether you live in Riverside, Tecumseh or Amherstburg.
