Refund Policy

Last updated: October 25, 2026

You can get your money back if you did not finish every step. The steps are:

  • Take a photo of your ID
  • Take a selfie
  • Check that your information is right
  • Agree to send your information to the police

If you stopped before the last step, email support@mycrc.ca and ask for a refund. You get all of your money back.

After you finish every step, there are no refunds. Your report is then ready to download as a PDF. It is not refundable for any reason, no matter what your report says.

Before you order

MyCRC provides one product: a name-based Canadian criminal record check. Please confirm with the organization asking for your check that this is the type they need before you order.

The report statuses

Your report’s status is set by the police and the RCMP, not by MyCRC. Every status below is a finished, delivered report. The answers below explain each one.

What do the report statuses mean?

Every finished report has one of three statuses. The police and the RCMP set the status, not MyCRC.

  • Negative: no criminal record was found matching your name and date of birth.
  • Positive: a criminal record was confirmed.
  • Incomplete: the police could not confirm a result from a name-based search alone.

All three are finished, delivered reports. Page 6 of your report shows the status.

Why is my report Incomplete?

Incomplete is a valid status set by the police and the RCMP. They don’t tell us why, but typically one of these is true:

  • Undisclosed convictions found: no convictions were disclosed, but the check found one or more.
  • Mismatched conviction count: the convictions disclosed don’t match the ones the check found.
  • Mismatched details: the name, date or court location of a disclosed conviction doesn’t match the record.
  • Unverified identity: the check could not be matched using the name and date of birth provided.
  • No convictions found: convictions were disclosed, but the check found none.

Dates you give must be accurate within two years to count as a match.

What to do next: visit a local police service and complete the in-person fingerprint process. It gives a full report at the highest level of accuracy.

My report says Discrepancy. Is it still valid?

Yes. A Discrepancy on identity verification means there was a small difference between the information you entered and the ID you scanned. Your report is still finished and valid, and its status (Positive, Negative or Incomplete) is on page 6.

Can I change my information or rerun my report?

No. Before you submit, you review your information and confirm it is accurate. After you submit, a report can’t be edited or rerun. If you need another check, it is a new order at the full price.

What is MyCRC not?

Check what the organization asking for your check needs before you order. MyCRC is:

  • Not a Vulnerable Sector Check. Roles working with children, older adults or other vulnerable people need one, and it is only available in person from your local police service.
  • Not a fingerprint-based certified check. MyCRC is name-based.
  • Not for immigration or visa applications.
  • Not a search of Canada Border Services Agency or US Customs records, and it usually doesn’t include offences committed as a youth.

Choosing the right check type is your responsibility.

What if I dispute a charge with my card company?

Please email support@mycrc.ca before contacting your card issuer, so we can resolve it directly. If you dispute a charge, the records of your order may be provided to your card issuer, including your acceptance of our terms of service, the information you confirmed before submitting, and your report status.
